Wetumpka Depot Players Announce 2011 Season

The Wetumpka Depot Players are ready to dish up a delightful menu of performances as they begin their 31st season of providing great entertainment at affordable prices.  This season promises a serendipitous selection of fun, music and thought provoking moments on their downtown Wetumpka stage.

The season's first offering is First Baptist Ivy Gap.  This warm and delightful play chronicles the lives of six women who have seen the best and worst of life.  Their journey spans over 25 years as they discover themselves and the meaning of community, family, love and loss.  Show dates are February 3-5, 10-12, and 17-19 at 7:30 p.m. and February 6 and 13 at 2:00 p.m.

Then, for something completely different, audiences will experience the wonderfully strange world of The Sugar Bean Sisters.  This comedy of mistaken identity, murder, alien landings, buried fortunes and spontaneous human combustion takes place in a shack in a sugarcane field just outside of Disney World and is sure to leave patrons laughing.  Show dates are May 5-7, 12-14, and 19-21 at 7:30 p.m. and May 15 at 2:00 p.m.

Prepare for a summertime romp with All Shook Up.  This musical is filled with Elvis tunes and a plot worthy of the Bard!  A wonderful story of star-crossed lovers and the music of the King of Rock and Roll will have audiences singing along and laughing out loud.  Show dates are July 28-30, August 4-6 and 11-13 at 7:30p.m. and July 31 and August 7 at 2:00 p.m.

The season ends with a fantastic play set in an Alabama swamp.  Duck Hunter Shoots Angel is a hilarious show about two bumbling brothers who think they have shot a celestial being.  Not only will this show leave patrons laughing, it is warm and moving in the genre of last season's Second Samuel.  It is a play audiences will remember and talk about for years.  Show dates are October 6-8, 13-15, and 20-22 at 7:30 p.m. and October 16 at 2:00 p.m.

Tickets are available for all shows online at www.wetumpkadepot.com or by calling 334-868-1440.  Join the River Region's oldest theatre company as they kick off their next 30 years of entertainment!
